E-Solutions / SpotTrace Studio
Remote followspot · Art-Net & sACN

One camera. Every light follows.

An operator watches a fixed camera of the stage and moves one target. Every calibrated moving head aims at the same spot — pan, tilt, zoom and dimmer solved per fixture and sent over Art-Net or sACN at 40 Hz. In the spirit of RoboSpot and Follow-Me, using the lights you already have in the rig.

3-day trial, fully featured. No account, nothing to sign up for.

How it works

Calibrate once against tape marks on the floor, and the maths does the rest — camera pixels become stage positions, and stage positions become pan and tilt for every fixture independently.

STEP 1

Point a camera at the stage

A webcam or capture device, or any NDI source on the network — PTZ cameras, vision mixers, visualisers. No camera at all? Load a stage plot, top view, photo or PDF and operate from the plan instead.

STEP 2

Calibrate the stage and rig

Enter the coordinates of four tape marks and click them on the floor. Then aim each fixture at those marks and capture. With four or more points it solves the fixture's position in 3D and reports the accuracy in centimetres.

STEP 3

Operate

Click, drag or touch the video. Or use a gamepad, MIDI controller, keyboard or OSC. Three independent targets, with handoff crossfades when you move a fixture from one to another.

The solve is what makes it accurate. A flat 2D mapping breaks as soon as a performer moves toward or away from a light. Recovering each fixture's real position in the rig means the beam lands on a person at chest height, not on the floor behind them — and it is what lets zoom and dimmer compensate as distance changes.

What it does

Everything below is in the shipping build.

AI person tracking

Detected people get boxes; click one to lock the active target onto them. A Kalman filter with lookahead compensates for fixture mechanical lag. Manual input always overrides, and a watchdog decides what happens if the person is lost — hold, fade out, or go to the safe preset.

Beam compensation

Auto-zoom holds a constant beam diameter and auto-dim holds constant perceived brightness as the distance to the fixture changes.

Masks and safe positions

Draw polygons over the audience or an LED wall with a soft fade edge in metres — beams fade approaching and black out inside. One SAFE button sends every target to a known position.

GDTF fixture import

Load official manufacturer profiles and pick the DMX mode. Pan and tilt with real ranges, dimmer, zoom with real beam angles, iris, focus and colour are mapped automatically; every other channel becomes an extra attribute at its default.

Three targets, many fixtures

Targets A, B and C each with their own dimmer, enable toggle and AI toggle. Assign any fixture to any target; reassigning crossfades it across.

Console-friendly output

Art-Net broadcast or unicast, and sACN with settable priority — run above the console to take over pan, tilt and dimmer, then disable to hand control back mid-show.

Map any control

Bind MIDI CC and notes, keyboard keys, or gamepad axes and buttons to any parameter with a Learn workflow. OSC input for target, dimmer, blackout, presets and target select.

Record and replay

Record the active target's path in rehearsal and play it back, optionally looped, in the show. Nine position presets, colour presets with per-fixture conversion, and quick channel looks.

Requirements

Worth checking before you plan a rig around it.

Operating systemWindows 64-bit
CameraAny webcam or capture device, or an NDI source on the network. NDI needs the free runtime from ndi.video installed.
FixturesMoving heads with 16-bit pan and tilt. Dimmer, zoom, iris and focus optional. GDTF profiles supported; grandMA2 .xml personalities are not.
NetworkArt-Net or sACN (E1.31) to your nodes or console
CalibrationAt least four measured marks on the stage floor, and the ability to aim each fixture at them once
AI trackingOptional. The first time it is enabled it downloads the detection model, so that one step needs internet.
Not sure it suits your venue or fixture list? Tell us what you are working with and we will tell you honestly whether it will hold up.

Download

Two builds, same software. Everything runs locally — the only step that ever needs internet is the optional one-off AI model download.

Windows will warn you on first run. Neither build is code-signed yet, so SmartScreen shows “Windows protected your PC”. Choose More info then Run anyway. The checksums above confirm you have the genuine file.
An expiring licence never interrupts a running show. The trial and licence are checked at startup only — nothing can stop your output mid-performance because a date passed.
The licence is tied to the machine, not the build. Activating the installed version also activates the portable one on that same PC — but a portable copy carried to a different machine needs its own licence.

Licensing

Monthly, yearly, custom or lifetime, locked to one machine. Activation is entirely offline: the app shows a machine code under Setup → License, you send it to us, and we send back a signed activation code to paste in. No server, no account, nothing to phone home.
